MILTON in Milton, MA!

The MILTON project began with a trip to Milton, MA– it’s where we really started to figure out the questions we wanted to ask people, and it’s where we first experienced the kind of hospitality that characterizes our time in the Miltons.  We still remember Maritta Cronin serving us chocolate milk (now referenced in the first line of the play!), and Brian Kelly showing up at the Blue Hills Weather Observatory at midnight (in a tux, no less) while we were filming the sky, with a pint of ice cream to share.   Katie has spent the last year collaborating with locals in MA on a program called “Milton Reflecting“– a year of creative activities designed to bring Miltonians of all ages together to reflect on, claim, and celebrate the extraordinary diversity of their community.  The MILTON show is part of that programming.  We’ll be performing May 18-22 at the library (our home base in town)– 4 free community shows and 2 school shows for Milton High sophomores.  Our fantastic NYC-based cast is already in rehearsal (Zina Ellis, Dillon Heape, and Reya Sehgal).  Katie is the playwright this time around, redrafting the script to better respond to the issues and interests of Milton, MA, and Emily Mendelsohn has stepped in as director.  Peter Ksander returns for the video and space design.
