2013 was a very awesome PearlDamour year. Some highlights: bringing HOW TO BUILD A FOREST to Brown University, and raising the shades on the glass wall right as the we reached the completion stage… how incredible it was to see the forest glowing on the 3rd floor of the Granoff Center from pictures taken a block away! Also: sitting down to conversation with so many different kinds of people from towns named Milton all over the U.S., and feeling the interest and support of people when they heard about the project. The draft showing we did at the Prelude Festival was another highlight, generating as it did some great and helpful feedback. Also this year we participated in an exchange grant with Haymaker from Durham, PearlDamour was a guest presenter at the ATHE conference in the swank environs of Orlando’s Hilton (fake waterfall, anyone?), and we joined up with NET at two different Microfests. Lisa went to two different writer colonies and had her newest play workshopped at Steppenwolf with director Joe Montello, while Katie continued her stay in Providence, writing, reading, and teaching at Brown. Some things to look forward to in 2014: workshopping MILTON at Brown in February, bringing FOREST to Vanderbilt University in March, heading to ACT in San Francisco in April for more MILTON work… and, fingers crossed, we’ll be doing a first presentation of MILTON in Milton, North Carolina sometime in the late summer. We’ll be launching a fund-raising campaign for that in the next month or so, so we’ll check back with you then! THANKS for all your encouragement over the past year… we feel very lucky!
